Sheep
For my Man & Shed project - I will write about it soon - I drove to a farm a few villages away. A man lives there with several barns, and after an extensive tour, I photographed him in one of them. It was time for coffee, so we walked to the kitchen, the interior of which had not changed since the 1980s.
A truck drove into the yard before the filter coffee finished its duty. The driver asked if we were missing any sheep. He and his colleague were installing temporary road signs and had been joined by a small flock of sheep. Were they ours?
They were not. The owner lived on a farm nearby but wasn't home during the day.
My host called a farmer whose farm was across the road, and the driver asked his colleague to drive the sheep in our direction with their other truck. The sheep walked cheerfully on the road, and the farmer-neighbour lured them first into his yard and then into a meadow. The sheep cheerfully started eating the grass. The gate closed, problem solved.
The weather was cool and sunny, promising spring. Life suddenly became clear and beautiful.
